Shimmy #4 - Winter Blow Out

The Winter Shimmy was exactly what we all needed. A few short hours to dance the afternoon into a frenzy of joy. The Shimmy series has always taken place outside and throwing a party in February was certainly a risk. Would people show up on a cold snowy day? The weather turned out to be a fantastic sunny winter day and it didn't matter that we took it indoors. Y'all brought the hot joy to wrap us all in a warm ritual of movement and dance! The Winter Shimmy reinforced my belief that we can shake it inside and out.

I nearly cancelled the party due to my sister's passing a couple of weeks before, yet once The Shimmy was under way, I was once again reminded of the power of dance to elevate moods and calm our minds in a time of strife. Numerous people pulled me aside during the party and told me just how much they needed this afternoon of joy. It makes my heart swell to hear these types of things.
