For Shimmy #9, over a hundred people came out to play while the temps topped 100. On one of the hottest days of the year y'all showed up to dance, on our shaded dance floor and it was soooo good. Our sweet little spot by the creek has seen a number of Shimmys, yet I was worried the heat would keep everyone away. Boy was I wrong. Not only did people show up, but the energy on the dance floor was hotter than it's ever been!

There were no alcohol sales at The Riverside for this Shimmy. Yet the mocktail bar served up some deliciously cold drinks, fruit cups, watermelon, and more to keep everyone hydrated and going strong all afternoon. I got a lot of comments saying they didn't miss the booze, while others were not as excited about the change. Nothing stays the same for very long. I hope the Riverside thrives in it's new direction yet it may also push the Shimmy in new directions. Who knows? I am über grateful for the venue's help, encouragement, discounts, curveballs, and all the experience of becoming an event maker which I may not have gained otherwise. (It also got me back into DJing.) Honestly, the Shimmy would not be a thing today if Riverside had not given me the opportunity to try and build this little community event series, and for that I give many thanks.

At the Shimmy #9, MISCAPE started our afternoon off solidly with a fun set to get us dancing and sweating. By the time GIBBY took over, the misters and fans added a coolness to the hot joy we were stirring up. (We even had a surprise visit by a well known DJ in the audience which was super cool.) By the time NEEDMORE took the decks, the energy was sky high and despite blowing past our end time by a half hour, the dance floor was still cheering for more. I'm still buzzing from the experience. Can't wait to dance with you all again. Get on the email list (at the bottom of this page) to get earlybird tix to the next one. We don't have a date as of yet so stay tuned.
